Me & My Travel Buddy

“Travelling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”

Who Are We ?

At my Favourite place in London
I am the Planner & writer

Aanchal Karnwal  an IT professional – Integration Architect, based out of London, UK. Working in the IT industry keeps me happy, but what makes me more happier is the work- personal life balance offerings and a cheque at the end of month that gives me wings to travel around and do something that makes me extremely happy and blissful.

My Story -I am a girl with a dream to travel the world, try extreme sports, try new things, meet new people and enjoy the time & life.

I lived and travelled in India for 25years, and moved to UK at 25. One fine day of year 2010, I decided to bring a change in my life. I was always fascinated with Europe so decided on London as my next home. I quit my job, with my last 5years savings I applied for visa, booked a one way ticket to London and started preparing for a new life ahead. After 2 months of rigorous job search and on a verge of my savings about to get over, I got lucky and secured myself a job in IT company.

I am the photographer & a great cook

Ashwin Shenoy-My partner in crime or you can say my ‘bitter’ half  :)My strength and inspiration of travel. Like me He is also an IT professional, and he is the only one who can pull me out of bed on a Saturday morning to go and visit some place new. Oh Yes, I can be a bummer when it comes to winter mornings.

He is an excellent amateur photographer and most of the photos on this blog came out of his vision or eye for an object. Ashwin captures the beauty of the places we visit and bring those memories back.

After settling in, our love and passion for travelling really started. We started exploring local markets of London, unseen roads, pubs, walks to near by villages that gave us a high and ultimately Travelling became a syndrome for us. A type of Syndrome that we do not want to get rid of.

We have been to 9 countries and like many dream is to visit each continent. We travelled by car, bike, trains, planes and explored on foot, stayed in cottages, b&b, caravans, tents and backpacking, ate in 5 star to cook our own meal on a portable stove. We started to get a flavour of travelling and the challenges that comes along.

Believe me we discovered oursleves while travelling, did things we never knew we would love to do over and over again. We learnt to travel on limited budget. We learnt to enjoy the mystical beauty that prevails in each place on this earth.

I used to maintain a travel journal for all of our journeys, decided why not share it with people out there who loves travelling as much as we do. So here in Corners of the World you will read about our Travel Tales- Places, Fun, Pictures, Food.

If you find our blog worth a read, please leave your comments. Also please feel free to contact us in case you want to know more details on the places we have visited, We will be more than happy to help.

Happy Writing and Reading.

  3. You’ve included a wonderful quote! For me, being in an unfamiliar location and being off balance bring vitality right back into focus for me. Nothing makes me feel more alive than being a little bit scared about how my day will turn out, and a little bit thrilled to know I’m on an adventure. At the end of an amazing travel day, it makes the evening in some shade with a cool drink all that more special.

  10. Hey there Newbie Spikey!
(for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…

  13. Hi Aanchal! Thank you for stopping by and following my blog. I did love your photo of the boy in the swing – so fitting for summer and I love that he had his face painted like a tiger. So happy to have found another kindred cyclist, and I am looking forward to seeing more of your photos and to read of your adventures traveling. I have not traveled outside of the US (yet) so reading about others who do, and finding new places I want to visit is very inspiring.

    Best to you!

  15. Thank you for following our blog. Through our photography and words we hope to inspire others to get out and see the world. And perhaps through those travels the world will become a smaller and less threatening place as we discover the many kindred spirits who share our own hopes and aspirations. As Mark Twain said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”

It’s never too early or late to follow your heart. Make time for the people, causes or work you truly care about. Cheers, Wooly and Raeski.

  18. Thanks Aanchal! Yes I’m based in London too. The perfect place for anyone to explore Europe. THE PERFECT LOCATION. Absolutely love it. Hate the weather and stuff like that (can’t even pretend to say I like it) but yeah other than that – happy here! AND travelling is a must in life. Just get a cheap offer ticket and GO basically! I believe in that. Btw there are sales on Eurostar at the moment. Just 59 pounds (return) Paris/Brussels. Thought I’d let you know, you seem as enthusiastic as me about travelling! 🙂 xx

    1. Totally agree with you, London is the perfect location to see world around you. Europe is stones throw away. Weather ha ha ha!! I will not say anything about it, we all know it very well. But long summers just makes up for it. And now we are again on the verge of entering the dark & gloomy weather 🙂
Wow Eurostar sales, I will definitely try for Paris 🙂 I will have to lure my husband into it, I am sure he will not say no. But getting my manager to approve few more holidays will be a challenging task 🙂 Please keep emailing me such details as & when you get to know, I will do the same,I promise 🙂

Happy Travels Babes. Really nice to meet you in this wonderful world of blogging.
