‘ To awaken in a room where windows open to a mountain, the door takes you to gravel path leading to a river, all you can hear is chirping of birds and sound of water – Isn’t it the pleasantest sense in the world’ 🙂
I woke up to such an amazing experience one morning, while I visited Interlaken- The land of mountains and lakes, beautiful villages around and a serene beauty. After a good breakfast, I along with my friends took out our bikes and went out to explore the wilderness of Interlaken & Murren.
Driving a car has its own advantage, but if you are seeking to walk in the moorlands, cycle in the forest, a small break near a river – Believe me cycle or walk is the best way to enjoy that bliss.

Interlaken is in general quite an expensive holiday location, some cost can be minimized if you do not mind staying in a backpacking hostel (shared rooms), train discount cards, rent a bike.
The Lazy Falker Backpacker – Centrally located and amazing view- http://www.hostelbookers.com/property/prp/20401/arr/2014-06-29/ngt/2/ppl/1/ or The Youth Hostel (http://www.youthhostel.ch/en/hostels/interlaken) – unfortunately when we visited it was fully booked.
If travelling from Basel to Interlaken by train – http://uk.voyages-sncf.com/en/?redirect=yes&origin=re4a&lang=en There is travel discount for people under 25 🙂
Interlaken to Murren – http://www.jungfrau.ch/en/tourism/holiday-resorts/muerren/directions-weather/
Swiss chocolates – I need not even mention, there are no shortage of shops to buy them 🙂
Given a chance I will visit Interlaken over and over again.
Amazing photos!

Great shots and nice write up.
I totally agree with your views on exploring such a great place by walk or in a bicycle. you could feel a place rather than see a place, right?

Hi Aanchal am visiting your blog via Joy Loves Travel – I love Switzerland it’s such a beautiful place! We had a lovely lunch overlooking the valley and mountains in Murren a few years back. There are so many beautiful parts of Switzerland and this was a very special place, best wishes Rosemary (Le Chic En Rose) 🙂
